Introduction

In 1997, the representatives of the U.S. corporate elites, Paul Wolfowitz, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and Jeb Bush, became signatories of the foundation document for a new neoconservative Think Tank called “Project for the New American Century”, in short PNAC. The principal aim of PNAC was to advocate the overthrow of regimes hostile to the American corporate interests and to preserve the American supremacy based on petrodollar regime.

One of PNAC's most influential publications was a 90-page report titled Rebuilding America's Defenses: Strategies, Forces, and Resources For a New Century. The report was co-authored by Donald Kagan, a Yale historian whose son Robert Kagan was one of the signatories of PNAC. In a section Rebuilding America's Defenses titled "Creating Tomorrow's Dominant Force", the authors had used very meaningful words:

"Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor.”

Pearl Harbor attack

During the Second World War, the Japanese attack on the American strategic base of Pearl Harbor in Hawaii was a catastrophic and catalyzing event that prompted the United States to enter the war against Germany and Japan in 1941, which in turn justified the American military and financial support for the communist Soviet Union. The communists (mostly Jewish communists) who infested President Roosevelt’s administration were not only looking forward to this event – they were part of the coordinated efforts to make this event happen.

The key role in this plan fell upon two Jewish officials in the US Treasury Department, Henry Morgenthau and Harry Dexter White, who were supported in their actions by a Soviet spy working in Japan, Richard Sorge. Their secret plan was to help the Soviets by pushing Germany’s ally, Japan, into the war with the United States and thus bringing the United States into the war against Germany and Japan, on side of the Soviet Union...

Because the Army Signal Corps had broken the Japanese diplomatic code known as “Purple”, the American officials were able to decipher all diplomatic messages between Tokyo and Japanese officials all over the world. Thus, they were able to known in advance of any planned attack by the Japanese. Not only the “Purple” machine was not supplied to the Hawaiian commanders, despite the concentration of the fleet in that area, which made them likely target, but the important messages which implied a possible attack in this area, intercepted by the Navy intelligence, were never passed to them either. On December 7, 1941, Japanese forces launched an attack on American strategic base of Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Within two hours, 18 US warships had been sunk or damaged, 188 aircraft destroyed and 2,403 American servicemen and women killed.

The following day, on December 8, 1941, the United States declared war on Japan and several days later, on December 11, Germany and Italy declared war on the United States, which responded with a declaration of war against Germany and Italy. After Pearl Harbor, domestic opposition to the U.S. intervention in the war had almost entirely disappeared. America’s entry into the war set in motion the War Production Board, which directed conversion of industries from peacetime work to war needs and the biggest American corporations received government contracts for war materials to supply the American, Soviet and the British armies.

Shady operations of CIA and MOSSAD

After the Second World War, the U.S. administration and its secret arm, the CIA, ran various operations against foreign governments that were hostile to America’s corporate interests, often organizing various provocations. On March 13, 1962 a document titled "Justification for U.S. Military Intervention in Cuba (TS)” was presented by the Joint Chiefs of Staff to Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara. The proposal called for the CIA or other U.S. government operatives to commit acts of terrorism against American civilians and military targets, blaming it on the Cuban government and using it to justify a war against Cuba. The operation - codenamed “Operation Northwoods” - was one of the first well documented planned “false flag operations” that targeted U.S. citizens on the American soil. “Operation Northwoods” was vehemently rejected by the U.S. President John F. Kennedy, whose criticism of CIA director Allen Dulles led to his premature death in 1963.

The next U.S. President Lyndon Johnson gave his support for U.S. military build-up and CIA's subversive operations across the globe. He also reversed President Kennedy's order to withdraw troops from Vietnam. President Lyndon Johnson acted upon recommendations of Henry Kissinger, a political scientist of German-Jewish background (and later godfather of “petrodollar scheme”) who wanted to intensify the campaign against North Vietnam (otherwise known as Democratic Republic of Vietnam, DVR), and thus was seeking a good reason to justify the increased US military engagement in that region. Already since 1961, CIA and Department of Defense supervised a highly classified program of covert actions against North Vietnam known as Operation “Plan 34-Alpha” consisting of insertion of CIA-recruited spies, aerial reconnaissance missions and naval sabotage operations along North Vietnamese coast.

Although there had been no attack on part of North Vietnamese forces, in 1964 the staff at U.S. National Security Agency deliberately skewed the evidence to make it appear that an attack had indeed occurred against US destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin, off the coast of Vietnam. In this manner, the American people were dragged into one of the bloodiest conflicts in the history of the United States – the Vietnam War…

The Israeli government attempted to exploit the American engagement and world's focus on the Vietnam War to annex more territory in the Middle East.

Since its establishment in Palestine in 1948, the Israeli state was causing troubles to its neighbours, successfully upgrading its military and operational capacity. By effective lobbying, Israeli state received, in the 1950s, billions of dollars in compensation from West Germany and received nuclear technology from France in return for its engagement in war over Suez Canal. Victor Rothschild was instrumental in providing arms to Israel, including transfer of nuclear technology. In the 1960s, he once again proved to be enormously helpful to Israel. He pushed for the use of electronic listening devices to replace human agents as guards on Israel's vulnerable borders. Consequently, Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, developed the signals side of its intelligence operations so that it could intercept enemy communication. By 1967, Israel was using the information captured by its giant border ears to computerize data about every enemy officer in the armies of Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Syria and Saudi Arabia. On the morning of June 5, 1967 Israeli forces staged a sudden pre-emptive air assault on Egyptian airfields. Through the use of spying devices, deception and coordinated military action, within 6 days, Israel seized the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza Strip from Egypt, the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan, and the Golan Heights from Syria.

Within few decades, Mossad became the most effective and dangerous secret service organization in the world, practicing its methods of operation on the neighboring Arab and Muslim population, steadily attracting public criticism across the globe.

In view of the ongoing wars in the Middle East, it was in the interests of Israel to portray Muslims as terrorist and thus gain increased military and financial support from the U.S. government. A terror attack on American soil that would involve Muslims would inevitably generate public support for U.S. military involvement in the Middle East.

As early as in 1980, chief of Mossad, Isser Harel, warned of the potential repercussions for the American people if the U.S. government did not engage enough in the war against the Arab states. This was recorded by a journalist and Zionist supporter Michael Evans, who had a conversation with Isser Harel in 1980:

“I sat with former Mossad chief Isser Harel for a conversation about Arab terrorism. As he handed me a cup of hot tea and a plate of cookies, I asked him, "Do you think terrorism will come to America, and if so, where and why?" Harel looked at his American visitor and replied, "I fear it will come to you in America. America has the power, but not the will, to fight terrorism. The terrorists have the will, but not the power, to fight America - but all that could change with time. Arab oil money buys more than tents." As to the where, Harel continued, "New York City is the symbol of freedom and capitalism. It's likely they will strike the Empire State Building, your tallest building [he mistakenly thought] and a symbol of your power.”

Isser Harel's prediction had materialized on February 26, 1993, when a truck filled with explosive materials detonated in the underground parking below the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing six people and injuring over a thousand. However, the tower, constructed mostly of steel, had not collapsed. The structural engineer, John Skiling, explained in an interview in Seattle Times that the towers have been designed specifically to withstand the impact of a jetliner.

By official records, the 1993 terror attack was organized by a group of Muslims led by Ramzi Yousef and Abdul Rahman Yasin, who were part of the Al-Qaeda network. Yet, in the immediate aftermath of the New York bombings, only the second-rank perpetrators were arrested and convicted whilst the ring-leaders were permitted to leave the United States. Ramzi Yousef went on to commit several successful and attempted international terror attacks before being arrested by Pakistani authorities, handed over to the U.S. authorities and convicted to 240 years in prison. Abdul Rahman Yasin, who would later appear on the list of the most-wanted terrorists, was questioned by the FBI, in New Jersey FBI headquarters in Newark, but was released and allowed to return to Iraq…

The Bush administration

In 2000, George W. Bush was elected US President not by national popular vote but thanks to the Electoral College and subsequent judgment of the US Supreme Court. George Bush’s grandfather, Prescott Bush, was one of those American company directors who were profiting from involvement with financial and industrial backers of Nazi Germany. Prescott Bush was one of the directors of Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. and was the director of the Union Banking Corporation (UBC) that represented the interests of German industrialist, Fritz Thyssen, one of the first financial backers of Adolf Hitler. Prescott Bush continued to work for that bank even after America entered the war against Germany. The files in the Library of Congress show that Prescott Bush was a director and shareholder of a number of companies involved with Fritz Thyssen.

The money Prescott Bush made from these dealings helped to establish the Bush family fortune and set up its political dynasty. In the 1960s, Prescott Bush’s son, George H. W. Bush, operated as an agent of the CIA using as cover his work in the petroleum production business. He later served as US ambassador to the United Nations, chief envoy to China and director of CIA under President Ford before serving as vice-president in Reagan administration. Eventually, in 1989, he became U.S. President. In line with a family tradition he did a favour to the Germans by presiding over re-unification of Germany. He also decided to undertake action against leaders in Panama and Iraq, who were previously on the CIA's payroll but began to take an independent course, hostile to the America’s corporate interests. This resulted in the U.S. invasion of Panama in 1989 and the operation “Desert Storm” against Iraq in 1991.

One of the key people in President H. W. Bush’s administration were Secretary of Defense, Dick Cheney, and Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Paul Wolfowitz.

Paul Wolfowitz, a political scientist who was born into a Polish Jewish immigrant family, had his outlook on global policy shaped by Leo Strauss, a professor of political science (also born to Jewish parents), who lectured at University of Chicago, an educational establishment financed by John D. Rockefeller. In The City and Man, professor Strauss discussed the myths outlined in Plato's Republic that were required for all governments. In this way he endorsed the concept of “noble lies” that political leaders should use in pursuit of their agenda.

Paul Wolfowitz preferred to see the American projection of power in the world and he formed, alongside Henry Rowen and Dick Cheney, basis of the operation Desert Storm, which commenced on January 17, 1991, after US Congress authorized the use of military force in the Persian Gulf. Other nations, primarily the US allies, United Kingdom, France, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, joined in forming the largest military alliance since the Second World War, whilst the Soviets were provided with a loan worth $1.75 billion for not vetoing the anti-Saddam Hussein resolution at the United Nations Security Council.

Dick Cheney and Paul Wolfowitz were to play again significant role in George Bush’s administration. Immediately after his election in 2000, President George Bush appointed the signatories of PNAC documents to the top levels of the White House and Pentagon. Dick Cheney, former Secretary of Defense and chief of Halliburton oil company, became Vice-president; Donald Rumsfeld, chief of various corporate businesses, became Secretary of Defense; Paul Wolfowitz, the author of operation ‘Desert Storm” became Deputy Secretary of Defense; Condoleeza Rice, former Chevron director, became National Security Adviser and Donald Evans, the former head of oil and gas exploration company Tom Brown Inc., became Commerce Secretary.

Bush administration set its focus mainly on two countries, Iraq, where they aimed to topple Saddam Hussein and take control over Iraq's oil resources; and Afghanistan where the US oil company Unocal started negotiating to build oil and gas pipelines from Turkmenistan, through Afghanistan and into Pakistani ports on the Arabian sea. Unocal required a stable administration in Afghanistan which would guarantee safe passage for its goods.

Unocal courted the Sunni Islamic Fundamentalists, the Talibans, who ruled Afghanistan from 1996, but they preferred to see a regime more loyal to the American interests, like the Saudi regime. The same year, Unocal opened an office in Kandahar, the second largest city in Afghanistan, and rented a house near one of the headquarters of Pakistani Military Intelligence and the compounds of Osama bin Laden. He was a Saudi billionaire and leader of Al-Qaeda, whom the CIA financed in the 1980s to channel weapons to Mujahedeen in Afghanistan against the Soviet Russian occupation forces. Al-Qaeda and its affiliated groups were heavily financed by the US's ally, the Saudis, who had close links to the Bush family and were multibillion dollar investors in the United States. Bin Ladens were also investors in the Carlyle Group, the giant private equity firm co-founded by American-Jewish financier David Rubenstein. Carlyle Group invested in defense industry which was likely to get more government contracts in case of a military conflict. Many of its senior officers were retired officials of Carter, Reagan and Bush administration. Ex-president George H. W. Bush, father of President George Bush, joined Carlyle Group in 1999.

In order to organize a regime-change in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Washington elites needed “some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor” that would help them to gain public support for military intervention.

The Saudis

The Saudis, who were very close to the Bush family, have been in the past financing organizations that were training aspiring Muslim fighters for operations in Bosnia, Albania, Chechnya and multiple other conflict zones. They also sponsored various religious charities and mosques, which recruited Islamic preachers, who spread anti-western, anti-crusader rhetoric, breeding an army of jihadists who wanted to become martyrs in the name of Allah. Some of them however were not religious at all but were trained as professional assassins to pose as Muslims, to take part in various covert operations organized by intelligence services.

In order to create a pretext for the military action on part of the U.S. government, the intelligence services developed a secret military operation that aimed for destruction of the two 110-storey towers which formed part of World Trade Center complex in New York City.

To ensure that 110-storey steel buildings collapse, multiple explosive had to be planted inside the twin towers, in the lift shafts, made of such pyrotechnic composition that could melt steel beams and damage the main structural core of the building.

Six weeks before the planned attack, in July 2001, an American Jewish real estate developer, Larry Silverstein, personal friend of former Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, purchased a 99-year old lease of the two World Trade Centre towers and insured them against terror attacks. Part of the building, the main shopping concourse at the World Trade Centre, was leased to Silverstein's friend, Frank Lowy, an owner of Westfield Corporation. Frank Lowy served as an Israeli commando and prior to that he was a member of the Israeli terrorist group Haganah (forerunner of Israeli Defense Forces). The nearby 47-storey building number 7, which was part of the World Trade Centre complex, was also owned by Silverstein Properties. The security at World Trade Centre complex was provided by Kroll Associates, the Wall Street investigative spy agency, which in the past took assignments from Russian and Kuwait governments...

A group of trained Muslim terrorists were recruited as patsies in the operation. Their role was to hijack the civil planes and create an overall impression that it was a Muslim or Arab operation. The Muslim assassins were supported by Saudi intelligence officials such as Omar al-Bayoumi, who received financial support from Saudi company affiliated with the Saudi Ministry of Defense. It would be confirmed in the later U.S. Senate inquiries that Bayoumi's associate intelligence agent who had contacts with the hijackers, Osama Bassnan, received financial support from Saudi Ambassador to the United States, Prince Bandar, himself a trained pilot who developed close relationships with Presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. W Bush, Bill Clinton and especially President George W. Bush.

September 11

On September 11, 2001, the Muslim assassins boarded the airplanes at Boston Logan airport bound for the West Coast. They carried with them knifes and maces yet went through the checks undetected since one of the screening and security firms that provided services to the US airports, Huntleigh USA, was a firm owned by International Consultants on Targeted Security, ICTS, an Israeli firm connected to Mossad. Between 6:45 and 7:40 a.m., (Eastern Time) Mohamed Atta and his Saudi Arabian accomplices boarded American Airlines Flight 11. Soon after takeoff they disabled the crew and took control of the aircraft. At 8:46 a.m. people in the New York City saw a plane crashing directly into the North Tower of the World Trade Centre.

At about the same time, United Airlines Flight 175, which also took off from Boston airport, had been hijacked by Marwan al-Shehhi and his, mostly Saudi Arabian, accomplices. Both Federal Aviation Administration and North American Aerospace Defense Command knew a second hijacking was taking place and that the plane was heading towards Manhattan, yet no military fighter jets intercepted the hijacked plane. Only 17 minuted later, at 9.03 a.m., people in New York City saw a plane crashing into the South Tower.

Both planes have been maneuvered into the Towers with remarkably accurate precision, such precision that requires both extraordinary piloting skills and experience, knowledge of the aircraft, as well as guidance from the Air Traffic Control. It appears that the air plane control system was hacked and remotely controlled by exterior forces, after the transponder channels, which provide information about the aircraft identification and barometric altitude, had been switched off. The planes were then turned into guided missiles.

Concurrently, massive explosions were taking place inside the Towers, in the lobby, around the elevators, in the basement and on the floors much lower than those damaged by the planes.

Firefighter John Schroeder was on site in the North Tower within ten minutes of the first plane impact, and he was saying that it looked as if a bomb had gone off in the lobby. “We first assembled on West Street, where we saw someone burnt beyond recognition. We were like ‘What is going on here?’ and then went straight into the Marriot building.” From there, Firefighter Schroeder made his way to the lobby of the North Tower. “It looked like a bomb went off, and we started making our way up the stairs to rescue as many people as we could.” As they were making there way up the floors, Firefighter Schroeder heard a huge explosion: “The elevators just blew right out. We couldn’t believe it. The plane hits 80 floors up but the elevators explode at least five minutes later? It was unreal.” Firefighter Schroeder made it all the way up to the 23rd floor before barely hearing on the failing radios that another plane was coming in. That plane would hit the South Tower, though for some reason, he said, “We were tossed like a rag doll by another explosion in our building. People were making there way down the stairwells burnt like you couldn’t believe. We were all shocked because it seemed as if there was fire everywhere, on so many floors. It just didn’t make sense”. The stairwells were black, and at that point, firefighters were making the decision to head back down stairs. In making there way down to the third floor, they were not able to find an exit. “The lobby was like a war zone. We could not find our way out. Then, all of a sudden, one of the maintenance workers had a key that opened a back door that got us out of there. He saved my life. I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart."

At 9:59a.m., 56 minutes after the plane crash, the South Tower fell vertically downwards within seconds, at the near-free-fall acceleration. Edward Cachia also spoke of the explosions:

“As my officer and I were looking at the south tower, it just gave. It actually gave at a lower floor, not the floor where the plane hit, because we originally had thought there was like internal detonation explosives because it went in succession, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, and then the tower came down.”

Then, at 10:28 a.m., 102 minutes after the plane crash, the North Tower fell vertically downwards at the near-free-fall acceleration. Two planes crashed into the towers but not one scrap of any of them survived. No black boxes, no luggage, no seats or chunks of fuselage survived. All that remained was a passport belonging to one of the Arab assassins, Mohamed Atta, found totally unscathed several blocks away from the carnage.

Meanwhile, a third plane, American Airlines Flight 77, was hijacked from Dulles Airport near Washington DC. by Hani Hanjour and his Saudi Arabian accomplices. Soon thereafter, media reported that a plane struck the Pentagon building, in Virginia, at 9:37 a.m. However, people were confused with the media reports about the plane hitting Pentagon, as there was no mark of the plane wings on the front of the building and there was no plane wreckage. Although Pentagon is the most protected building in the world, the military staff was not able to shot the incoming object before it hit the building and was not able to provide any footage of the supposed plane from any of its security cameras. Neither experienced pilots nor aviation officials believed that a pilot, even the most experienced one, could actually steer a plane with such precision, at such speed into the Pentagon building.

The fourth plane, the United Airlines Flight 93, which took off from Newark International Airport, in New Jersey, was hijacked by Ziad Jarrah and his Saudi Arabian accomplices. The plane was bound for San Francisco, in California, but the hijackers diverted it back towards the east coast. The passengers of Flight 93 made a heroic attempt to take over control of the aircraft but as they were trying to force their way into the cockpit, Ziad Jarrah began to roll the airplane left and right to knock the passengers off balance. After series of violent maneuvers, the hijackers pulled the plane down, whilst reciting Arabic phrase Allāhu akbar (God is the greatest).

Later that day, at 5:20 p.m., building number 7 in New York City, that was also owned by Silverstein Properties and which had not been hit by the plane, fell in a straight line down, within few seconds. Larry Silverstein, whose company Silverstein Properties would later sweep 2$ billion in insurance claim, admitted openly in the 2002 PBS interview:

“I remember getting a call from the, er..., fire department commander, telling me that they were not sure they were gonna be able to contain the fire, and I said, "We've had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is PULL IT." And they made that decision to pull and we watched the building collapse.”

Soon, it became apparent that many people had foreknowledge of the attacks and profited from insider trading. An investigative journalist, Mike Ruppert, was contacted by a former employee of Alex. Brown, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank (where many of the alleged 9/11 hijackers handled their banking transactions – for example Mohammed Atta) who informed him of massive put options purchases on United Airlines Company UAL through the Chicago Board Option Exchange (CBOE) that took place prior to the attacks. Mike Ruppert wrote that the company had previously been a financier of Brown Brothers Harriman and Carlyle Group both of which were closely related to the Bush family. Interestingly, on the day of the September attacks, Carlyle Group, which was likely to get more government contracts in the aftermath of the attacks, was holding an investor conference at Ritz Carlton Hotel which was attended by one of Osama bin Laden's many half-brothers, Shafik bin Laden...

War on terror

On September 11, 2001, President Bush was visiting a Florida primary school when he had learned of the terror attacks. He remained seated for roughly seven minutes and continued to listen while the children were reading a story before he excused himself and left the room. That evening, he addressed the nation from the Oval office promising strong response to the attacks. Former Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, when asked what the attack meant for relations between the United States and Israel, replied:

“It's very good”.

Then he corrected himself: ''Well, not very good, but it will generate immediate sympathy.''

On September 12, 2001, the UN Security Council unanimously passed a resolution in support of measures against those responsible for aiding and supporting the perpetrators of the terror attacks. At the same time NATO invoked, for the first time ever, Article 5 of its founding treaty, declaring that the assault on the United States represented an assault on all members of the alliance.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was aiming at the time to eliminate Chechen freedom fighters, saw this narrative as beneficial to his own policies. Thus on September 13, 2001, NATO issued a press statement, after the NATO - Russia Permanent Joint Council meeting, stating that:

“NATO and Russia will intensify their cooperation under the Founding Act to defeat this scourge.”

President Bush referred to the ongoing events as “war on terror”, issuing an ultimatum to the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, to "hand over the terrorists, or ... share in their fate." He also thanked British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who quickly aligned the United Kingdom with the United States, for traveling to Washington to show "unity of purpose with America". In the following weeks, the US and UK governments introduced anti-terror legislation which increased the powers of the intelligence agencies and curbed civil liberties.

Three months later, in February 2002, President Bush presented U.S. Congress with a $2.1 trillion wartime budget that would sharply increase funding for the U.S. military and for homeland security, the biggest increase since the Cold War…

The following Anglo-American invasions on Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003, brought profits to Anglo-American corporations but did not bring stability in the region, prompting the growth of Muslim extremism and black market for oil, benefiting smugglers and oil companies. In October 2009, Reuters reported that Iraq's oil ministry signed a deal with British Petroleum (BP) and China's National Petroleum corporation to develop its super-giant Rumaila oilfield, the workhorse of Iraq’s oil industry with the capacity of 1.1 million barrels per day (bpd). The Iraq’s oil ministry official said additionally that Exxon Mobil had put forward a new bid for Zubair oilfield, while Chevron and Total had submitted a new offer for West Qurna field, which bids were under consideration.

Furthermore, politicians who supported war policy such as British Prime Minister Tony Blair amassed great fortunes by advising corporations and foreign governments and by receiving astronomical fees for speaking at public events.

Between 2006 and 2009 non-profit organization Wikileaks founded by an Australian computer programmer and activist Julian Assange, started to publish embarrassing top secret classified information on the activities of the Anglo-American intelligence services and the U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Julian Assange received multiple international awards for his journalist activity yet it was hailed “a terrorist organization” by the U.S. intelligence agencies. On April 11, 2019, the Metropolitan Police stormed the building of the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he has been hiding for many years. As they were dragging haggard-looking Julian Assange into a police van, he kept screaming:

“YOU MUST RESIST, YOU CAN RESIST”.

In his hands he was holding a book written by Paul Jay, the Real News Network senior editor, and Gore Vidal, the American writer who studied the rise of the American military empire. The book was titled Gore Vidal History of The National Security State: Includes Vidal on America. Here is a brief quote of what Gore Vidal said about the United States of America following September 11 attacks and the American invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq:

“So we are facing bad times. Now, we have fallen into the hands of a group that calls itself neoconservative. You can argue that some of them acting as superZionists, because they think what they are doing is going to be good for Israel. It isn't, but that's one excuse to be used. Others say its just going to be good for America to be in control of all the oilfields that we can get our hands on, because then we can blackmail everybody, and we are the only people that have oil.(...) I think everybody should take a sober look at the world around us, remember that practically everything that you're told about other countries is untrue; what we are told about ourselves and our great strength and how much loved we are, forget it. Our strength is there, but it's the kind of strength that blows off your hand while you hold up a grenade; it is a suicidal strength as well as murderous one. So here we are, and let us hope it is not the end of the road, even though there is every sign that it is not the yellow brick road up ahead.(...) I think it is pretty clear as we look about us, turn on the TV, with the richness that is offered us by cable, by network, by this by that, that here we are with all these forms of information and really very ignorant about what's going on in the world. (…) We're nothing but a consumer society with TV manufactured to get us to be loyal consumers and docile workers. Well, we've got to do better than that, because our lives depend on information. Knowledge is power. With no knowledge we'll all die. So it's time, somehow, through the magic of airwaves, we become informed, because if we aren't, we won't be here to be informed…”
